Invitation to the digital report launch on February 13th, 2024: Introducing Re:Match – Relocation via Matching.

For a progressive and effective migration and asylum policy, we need more solidarity in the European Union – both with the people seeking protection in Europe and with the member states where they first arrive.

To enable solidarity in practice, in 2024, we keep working on the further technical development of our “Re:Match – Relocation via Matching” project and on scaling it up for other groups of people seeking protection. We are not alone in developing data-driven solutions for migration policy, as algorithm-based matching is currently gaining momentum internationally as a migration management tool. In various countries, interdisciplinary teams are testing various matching-based migration strategies, including for resettlement and civil society sponsorships.

With the development of a needs-oriented relocation tool for the European level that strengthens the role of municipalities, Re:Match is making a significant contribution to this momentum and is also unique in its idea and practical implementation. Last year we were already able to match and relocate 78 Ukrainian asylum seekers from Poland to six German municipalities. The Tagesspiegel recently reported on our work and our successful first relocation phase (article in German).
